This story has the whole city talking… and it’s got a lot of emotions packed in.
A 15-year-old boy from College Hill just admitted in court to shooting and killing his mom’s boyfriend. This all went down back on February 21, 2025, on Pasadena Avenue.
Here’s what happened:
The boy’s mom told police that her boyfriend — 30-year-old Levonte Hyde — had punched her several times while they were driving. Things got so bad that police had already filed a warrant to arrest Hyde for domestic violence.
But before police could catch him, the teen stepped in.
Early that morning, the 15-year-old fired 12 shots at Hyde, hitting him multiple times. Hyde later died at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
This week — on May 6 — the teen admitted in Hamilton County Juvenile Court that he did it.
The judge sentenced him to 6 years in a juvenile corrections facility… but gave him credit for 75 days he’s already served behind bars.
The court said they considered everything — including the fact that Hyde had been accused of beating the teen’s mom. Even though Hyde wasn’t the boy’s biological father, he and the mom had two kids together.
This is one of those heartbreaking stories where nobody really wins… but now, at least, the case has some answers.
